Introduction:

Teledyne FLIR Defense, a division of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated, has secured a four-year, $74.2 million contract from the U.S. Army. The agreement supports ongoing development of the next-generation mounted reconnaissance capability for the M1135 Stryker’s Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Reconnaissance Vehicle (NBCRV) Sensor Suite Upgrade Program.

Features:

As lead integrator, Teledyne FLIR is advancing the modernization of the NBCRV sensor suite with a more autonomous and enhanced set of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) detection sensors.

The upgraded system integrates several solutions, including the FLIR Defense R80D SkyRaider™ drone equipped with the MUVE™ B330 biological detection payload for small unmanned aerial systems. A FLIR-developed command-and-control platform will unify all devices and platforms, providing sensor fusion and automation to reduce operator workload and improve decision-making.

Under the new contract, FLIR Defense will design the expanded Sensor Suite upgrade (Capability Set 2.2), deliver six prototypes, and support government-led testing. Key improvements include enhanced sensing technologies, autonomous SkyRaider flight operations, and upgraded hazard prediction software.
