Airbus Defense and Space partners with NeuralAgent, a start-up specializing in AI, as part of the SCAF project

4 June 2024

Airbus Defense and Space, a leader in the aerospace industry, and NeuralAgent, an innovative artificial intelligence start-up, have signed two contracts that will help shape the air combat system program of the future  This trinational program led by the defense ministries of France, Germany and Spain marks a notable step forward in strengthening European defense systems, notably through cutting-edge artificial intelligence. This partnership between Airbus and NeuralAgent will contribute to the SCAF combat cloud, as part of the overall Phase 1B contract.

The partnership aims to bridge the innovation gap through AI-defined, non-jamming, resilient and self-organizing network and system architectures, in the air, on the ground or in space. The goal is to automate and optimize the response times of an unlimited number of combat nodes, reducing them to real time or milliseconds. This initiative will leverage Airbus Defense and Space's advanced infrastructure and NeuralAgent's cutting-edge decentralized AI technology to develop collaborative, redundant, explainable and high-performing agents in dynamic environments. The goal is to outperform expensive central AI approaches with a single point of failure against jamming. Together, they seek to enhance defense capabilities through the distributed, unprecedented autonomous intelligence of large numbers of combat nodes.

Mr. Onur Deniz, CEO of NeuralAgent, highlighted the importance of this collaboration: “This contract is a key achievement for NeuralAgent, as it not only allows us to redefine the future of secure and resilient networks defined by AI through to our fundamental AI agent models, but also to extend our scope to dual-use cases for commercial industries, from space to earth, supporting scalable innovation across the board of the European Union. »

Juan Emilio Murillo Martinez, Head of Procurement Software and Cybersecurity at Airbus Defense and Space, highlighted the benefits of this partnership: “Working with AI startups such as NeuralAgent will boost our innovation efforts and will help us stay at the forefront of the latest AI trends. This collaboration will strengthen our capabilities in current and future systems, allowing us to stay at the forefront of technological advances. »

This strategic partnership between Airbus Defense and Space and NeuralAgent aims to modernize AI functionalities in the field of European defense. It demonstrates the commitment of these two companies to innovation and leadership in the European Union's largest defense project.
