Safran introduces the ACE embedded AI solution
Safran Electronics & Defense is introducing its Advanced Cognitive Engine (ACE) artificial intelligence system, designed to integrate AI capabilities across all Safran Electronics & Defense products. This system aims to enhance situational awareness, provide decision support, and reduce cognitive load for military forces in the field.
ACE is set to improve target detection, classification, and identification by compensating for environmental challenges like atmospheric turbulence and low light. Advanced features such as enhanced tracking and automatic target detection will further assist users in mission execution by alleviating cognitive demands. Each capability is customizable for specific environments—whether it’s open terrain, desert, jungle, etc.—to ensure optimal performance.
Branded as "ACE on board," these capabilities will be integrated into a range of equipment, including land vehicles, aircraft, naval sights, and portable optronics products. ACE will also be incorporated into Safran Electronics & Defense drones and robotic systems, enabling operators to manage and operate their fleets more effectively.
ACE is designed with ethical AI considerations in mind, ensuring that users remain central to the decision-making and action process.
"Discussing AI at this year's event is both important and natural for us," said Alexandre Ziegler, EVP Defense Division, Safran Electronics & Defense. "By leveraging our expertise in AI alongside our advanced imaging systems, we're offering significant performance enhancements for our customers."
Initially available on an external processor, ACE's capabilities will eventually be integrated directly into equipment via dedicated electronics. The ACE solution will also receive biannual updates to keep pace with evolving operational needs.
